Bigalli Firenze: our history

A nearly 100-year-long history

Watches in Florence since 1927

The history of Bigalli Orologerie began in Florence in 1927, when founder Tullio Bigalli and his wife Bruna opened a watchmaker's supply shop near Ponte Vecchio; in just a few years it became a thriving business where they could find Swiss spare parts for handcrafted repairs. First the war events of 1944 and then the flood of 1966 destroyed the shop twice, forcing it to close; despite the difficulties, the heirs Franco and Rina Bigalli were determined to carry on the family business.

The rebirth of Bigalli Florence

Thus, at the end of the 1960s, the Bigalli Orologerie reopened in what was to become its historic headquarters, on the first floor of Piazza Stazione, becoming an increasingly important point of reference for watchmakers and watch lovers. The history of the company and the family at its helm continued and was enriched by new figures. Giuseppe Bolgi, Franco and Rina Bigalli's nephew, became a partner together with his cousin Andrea, guiding the business with passion towards a growing development, bringing it to be a landmark in the city for supplies.

The new headquarters in Via Maso Finiguerra in Florence

The turning point came in 2003 when the business was completely renovated and moved to its current location in Via Maso Finiguerra. Keeping supplies at the core of the business, the sale of watches of some of the most important brands is added, as well as a modern repair workshop. Giuseppe, known as Pino, now owner of the company together with his daughter Lavinia, concretises and further develops the after-sales service, thanks to the help of specialised collaborators and technicians and the provision of a state-of-the-art workshop, qualified to service the best Swiss watch brands.
